James Frawley joins only a handful of directors who have directed two episodes in a row with this season.Season 8 is the only other season to accomplish this. This is the first season where each guest star played the killer only once and never appeared in another episode of Columbo.Leo Penn directed the final episode of this era and the first episode of the next one ( Columbo Goes to the Guillotine).The historical deaths are the result of a supposed drowning and a suspicious car crash. The methods of those five murders are as follows two are by gunshot, one is by poisoning, one by a fatal dog mauling and one is by suffocation as a result of being locked in an airtight safe.However, both Try and Catch Me and How to Dial a Murder feature an additional historical death in mysterious circumstances which is implied to have been caused by another character. This ties it with Season 8 as the only season where the number of murders matches up exactly with the number of episodes.
